A bit about the role:

The role of a Civil Construction Apprentice is interesting, varied and provides staff with hands on experience and a broad understanding across all the types of Construction and Maintenance works that Council carries out on our vast network of roads. A major part of this role involves learning about workplace health and safety and the control of hazards identified on a construction site. You will obtain competencies in operating a variety of plant and machinery.

In a trainee, we look for:

  • Passion for improving our regions infrastructure
  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team

What you can learn:

  • Read, interpret and set up Traffic Control Plans
  • Assist in the delivery of concrete works, roadworks and signage installation
  • Develop skills in the use and maintenance of small plant and hand tools
  • Understanding of WHS and PPE requirements
  • How to manage your time and priorities

A Civil Construction traineeship is full time employment for three (3) years and the proposed study will be a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
