The primary purpose of the traineeship is to develop skills and understanding of building regulations and provide support to the building services team through studies and within the workplace.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support the team and organisation through providing high quality, accurate and timely support in delivery of services.
- Assist in the preparation of high-level written documentation on matters involving building control and development assessment.
- Accurate and efficient data input and records management using a range of Council databases and software.
- Contribute to improving processes and services provided by the team to ensure effective, efficient, and safe delivery of objectives.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture within the organisation through completion of required documentation, reporting incidents/hazards/near misses and contributing to team discussions.
- Other tasks and initiatives as directed by supervisor or senior management.

We are seeking someone who has or is willing to obtain:
- SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
- Class C Driver Licence (includes P1 or P2)
About the Role
Course: Bachelor of Building Surveying (Honours) (192 Credit Points)
Study Time: 6 hours per week during academic term
A minimum of 4 units must be completed per academic year
Financial Assistance: 100% of course fees provided, in accordance with the Training and Development Scholarship Program Policy.
Completion of Scholarship: At the successful completion of the bachelor’s degree, the employee will be required to complete a minimum of two years’ service with Richmond Valley Council.
Full time: 70-hour fortnight
Salary: Based on the Local Government Award + 12% super
