What is a School-based Traineeship?

A School-based Traineeships allow students to combine their schooling with part-time on-the-job training and formal study to achieve a Nationally Recognised Qualification.

This type of learning is a great way to get your career off to a head start while remaining at school and be well under way to getting a qualification before you have finished Year 12.

This school-based traineeship is for 1 day per week for two (2) years.

A bit about the role:

The People & Culture team plays a vital role in supporting our organisation and contributing to a positive, inclusive workplace. As a School-Based Trainee, you will work alongside a dedicated and supportive team committed to helping our people thrive. This role offers the opportunity to learn across a wide range of HR functions, develop practical skills, and experience a professional work environment.

You will interact with staff from all areas of Council and assist with a variety of tasks that help strengthen our workplace culture. Our People & Culture team prides itself on being professional, approachable, and proactive in supporting the needs of our workforce.

In a trainee, we look for:

  • A creative mind that also has an eye for detail
  • Someone who enjoys working on a computer
  • Someone who enjoys working with people 

What you can learn:

  • Communication skills
  • A variety of software applications
  • How to manage your time and priorities 

Suggested qualification may be a Certificate III in Business Administration

Fixed term: 1 day per week (Term Contract - 2 years)

Salary: Based on the Local Government Award + 12% super
