We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Heavy or Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our Casino team.

The primary purpose of the Mechanic role is to provide a high level of service in the maintenance, repair and servicing of Council vehicles, plant and machinery.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare and apply planned maintenance schedules incorporating manufacturer’s recommendations, best practice, market expertise and workshop/contractor capacity to ensure councils fleet and machinery achieves high levels of service availability and reliability
  • Ensure all aspects of plant and vehicle fleet maintenance records are completed and entered into corporate systems to comply with internal requirements and Chain of Responsibility legislation
  • Support and provide leadership in the day-to-day operations of the mechanical workshop
  • Supervise, lead, manage and actively contribute to a work team including motivating staff
  • Drive a performance culture amongst the workshop team and develop and nurture a customer service focus
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the provision of information and resolution of routine and minor matters
  • Ensure efficient, effective and quality service is delivered
  •  Apply precise judgement and interpretation of options in problem solving

Qualification requirements:

  • Trade Certificate as a Heavy/Light Vehicle or Mobile Plant Mechanic 
  • SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Proven competency for Welding & Oxy-Acetylene – Intermediate
  • Current Class HR Driver Licence
  • Competence in the following industry standard practices from a recognised provider:
    o Advanced Hydraulic & Pneumatic Diagnosis
    o Advanced Electrical Diagnosis
    o Advanced Steering & Braking system Diagnosis

About the Role 

Full time: 76-hour fortnight

Salary: Range from $62,998 to $72,446 pa + 10.5% super
